Küstenkanuwandern (Synonym für
Seekajakfahren, Sea Kayaking) ist die dritte Dimension des Paddelns. Im
Vergleich zum Wanderpaddeln auf Flüssen und Seen und zum
Strömungspaddeln auf Wildbächen eröffnet das Wasserwandern auf dem Meer
den Kanutinnen und Kanuten eine völlig anders geartete Erlebniswelt.
Es handelt sich dabei um eine Welt, die nichts
mit der Beschaulichkeit romantischer Flussfahrten bzw. mit der
Kurzweiligkeit abenteuerlicher Wildwasserpassagen zu tun hat. Vielmehr
zeichnen sich Touren im Seekajak durch Einsamkeit aus, die nicht als
Nebenprodukt einer sanft dahingleitenden, spielerischen oder
atemberaubenden Paddelei anfällt, sondern erst durch vergleichbar
mühsame Paddelei "verdient" werden muss. Nur ab und an wird dabei die
Mühe durch das Erlebnis belohnt, einen vor seinem Kajak auftauchenden
Seehund oder eine nach Futter stosstauchende Seeschwalbe beobachten zu
dürfen. Den passionierten Küstenkanuwanderern genügt dies.
